Transport Services
Specialising in the transportation of bulk liquids Carntyne operates a large fleet of road tankers, de-mountable tanks and specially designed double deck trailers for the transportation of whisky casks. Carntyne operates standard curtain trailers in addition to specially designed moving floor trailers which are mainly deployed to the movement of palletised whisky casks.
Carntyne also operate a fleet of high cube curtain trailers which are involved predominantly on the movement of packaging materials.
Transport Management
Our experienced team of transport operators aided by the latest transport management systems plan and resource operations across the UK. Customer orders are received via EDI links or via email or fax. Our fleet of vehicles have leading edge telematic technology providing real time management information together with satellite tracking.
4PL Transport Management
In addition to managing our own core fleet of vehicles Carntyne offers a managed transport platform. This concept involves Carntyne utilising other 3rd party transport flows in addition to our own fleet ensuring an optimal solution is achieved whilst reducing empty mileage.
On Site Logistics
Carntyne provides on site logistics services which involve our employees located on Customer sites and working hand in hand with Customer employees. Services range from product handling, trailer loading and unloading, container de-stuffing, vehicle shunting and yard management.
The team managed via a contract manager are fully conversant with site processes and procedures and form an integral part of the Customers’ operation. Performance is measured through a suite of key performance indicators which form part of regular Customer review meetings.
Best practise is often shared between both teams as are joint sessions around health & safety and continual improvement.
Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor
Carntyne has an in house Dangerous Goods Safety Advisory team who in addition to ensuring our own compliance to legislation provide support and advice to our Customers on issues relating to the transportation of dangerous goods.
Equipment Rental & Sale
Given our large fleet of vehicles and variety of trailers and tanks Carntyne often provide both short term and long term rental to our Customers. There is also the opportunity for purchase of equipment.
Engineering Services
In conjunction with the wider Russell Group, Carntyne has commercial vehicle workshop facilities located at Glasgow, Coatbridge, Alloa and Aberlour. The facilities are manned with a team of experienced mechanics and trailer fitters who have broad experience in working with various types of equipment and across numerous manufacturers.
Our workshops are supplemented with a large van line facility located at our Glasgow site which specialises in trailer build, refurbishment and modification.
In addition to servicing the internal needs of the group our engineering team extend the service to external 3rd party Customers.
