JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our bulk transport business unit as a transport planner/operator. Our bulk transport business unit is a leading provider of bulk transport to the whisky and spirits industry. With a fleet of over 100 vehicles, 140 tankers and 400 trailers our dedicated team service most if not all the major drinks companies.

Based at our head office in Springburn, Glasgow, the role presents the opportunity to work within a strong and dedicated team gaining the skills and experience required to successfully operate the day-to-day transport operation.

The role will involve planning and routing of drivers and vehicles, communicating with drivers and customers and ensuring adherence to customer service levels, legislative compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

· Effective management and planning of drivers, through on-going communication and using our TMS software

· Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resource (vehicles, drivers, trailers); ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU Drivers’ Hours regulations)

· To ensure the daily plan is completed in real time managing resources effectively, maximising utilisation.

· Control and execution of in-house planning tools and systems to manage workload and monitor efficiency

· Ensure fleet compliance is maintained at all times.

· To develop good working relationships with customers, keeping them fully informed and react positively and speedily to their needs.

· Ensure all Drivers administration / management is in line with Regulations

· Understanding and achieving key performance targets relating to the safety and efficiency of our fleet (including utilisation and costing)

· Constantly communicate with our Customers & Drivers to ensure customer KPI’s and targets are achieved and maintained

· Develop an understanding and experience of working with the Planning Regulatory framework, ensuring you keep up to date with policy and best practice as it develops Skills / Qualifications/ Capabilities

Our Ideal Candidate:_

· An exceptional knowledge of transport with previous planning experience of a large C&D fleet.

· Excellent People Management skills, preferably with experience of a unionised environment

· Exceptional knowledge and understanding of WTD, Tachograph rules and regulations.

· Proficient IT skills with experience using excel and transport management systems.

· Effective communication skills.

· International CPC (advantageous)

· Knowledge of ADR regs.

· Ability to plan ahead and work on your own initiative.

· Drive and enthusiasm with a modern, positive, forward-thinking attitude.

· Experience of managing a team of drivers.

· Knowledge of general Health & Safety.

· Strong people management skills

What is on offer?

You will normally work 45 hours per week, Monday – Friday . This is exclusive of a 1-hour unpaid break Flexibility within working hours would be advantageous as our business operates seven days per week across the year.
