Celebrating 55 Years of the Russell Group: A Legacy of Growth and Innovation

As part of the Russell Group, this October, we are proud to celebrate a significant milestone in the history of the Russell Group—55 years since our founding in 1969 by our Chairman, John Russell. What started as a small operation with just 12 vehicles and a team of 15 employees, primarily servicing the steel industry, has since evolved into a leading force in the logistics sector. Today, we operate with over 800 dedicated employees and a fleet of 250 vehicles, serving a wide range of industries across the UK.

Over the last five decades, the Russell Group has continued to grow and diversify. Through a combination of hard work, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to innovation, we have expanded our services from road transport to include warehousing, rail logistics, contract packing, and more. Our ability to adapt and evolve has been key to our success, and we are proud of the impact we’ve made on the industries we serve.

As we reflect on our journey, we celebrate the many milestones that have defined our history—from the opening of new facilities to the launch of pioneering services and our continued commitment to sustainability. But our greatest achievement is the strong community of employees, clients, and partners who have been with us every step of the way.
